Pictures of beautiful Russian girls looking for foreign husbands are all over the Internet. Many of these girls are very young (at least a half of them are in their early twenties), most of them have college degrees and good job. So what’s the catch? Why all these Russian and Eastern European girls want to get out of the country and marry Western men?
Before we continue I can’t but mention that despite the popular belief most of these girls do not want to get out of their countries. Life in Ukraine, Russian or Belarus is not as bad as many Americans think it is. As a matter of fact, many Russians live better than Americans. They are not mortgaged up to the hilt, they go on long vacations everywhere, they dress nicely, and eat healthy food. Many Eastern Europeans are also very patriotic and even though some of them emigrate, they never forget and never stop missing their countries.
So what’s the deal then? If it is not because of money, why thousands of well-educated beautiful Russian girls are ready to leave their motherland for some Western dude who doesn’t understand their language and has a completely different mentality.
The answer to this is very simple. Women from Former Soviet Union have different ideas about happiness and life than Western women. Feminism is not very popular in Russia and Eastern Europe and most women were raised believing that a woman can never be really happy unless she is married and has a family. Women who is single and childless is a subject of gossip and pity, even if she make $1000 a week and drives a Lexus.
Russian women’s lives would have been much easier if they believed that they don’t need a guy to be happy, because there are much more women than men in Russia. Primary reason why these women are looking for husbands abroad, because they just want a husband.
A group of Eastern-European ladies were surveyed and asked if they would leave their country of birth if they could find a husband over there.
Well, guess what? 83% of them said that they would not. The rest said that they prefer Western men to Eastern European men because they believe that Western men make better husbands and, most importantly, better fathers for their children.
So next time you see pictures of beautiful Russian women online, don’t assume that they are there because they want your money or your citizenship. Some of them do (read articles about Russian dating scams), but most of them have pure intentions of finding their perfect mate and live happily ever after.
