I don’t think that any of the Russian dating websites out there are 100% safe. Even if the site has a good reputation and is doing its best to protect it, crap still happens. Some sites (such as Elena’s Models) scan their members and make sure that the person who created a profile is real, but even real people can do nasty stuff sometimes, so no matter which site you are using, always be cautious.
I read a number of anti-scam sites and I read many Russian-American forums (Just because I am nosey and spend much more hours online than I would like to admit), and based on what people are saying and on what I saw, the safest dating website (as of right now) is Elena’s Models.
Elena’s Models was actually the first agency to publish a black list of Russian dating scammers.
Even though the site is called Elena’s Models, the girls do not look like top models or porn stars (like on many other sites), which is a good indicator by itself that they are 1) real 2) decent.
I personally don’t feel comfortable recommending my friends to marry women who post half-naked pictures for the whole world to see. Beautiful and smart Russian women are not going to show you their boobs in order to make you want to marry them. Real Russian and Eastern-European girls know their value and don’t have to “sell “themselves this way.
Most girls on Elena’s Models website are very good-looking, but they are also fully clothed, which is a plus.
The membership prices are very reasonable (their prices start at $16 a month or so, which is way cheaper than everywhere else), which is one of the reasons why the site is very popular.
The only thing that people complained about was that Elena’s Models doesn’t provide free translation services for the girls (as Anastasia International does), so if the woman you are interested in does not know English, you may have trouble communicating with her for awhile (good thing, that most women know English; at least its basics).
The second site which I thought was good and safe was Anastasia International. I know quite a few couples who met through them and they were pretty happy with the service.
Anastasia International’s database is huge, they offer free translation services (a huge plus) and they (supposedly) also scan their members.
While Elena’s Models reputation is almost flawless, I read a couple of articles claiming that Anastasia International was a scam. It is possible of course that people were scammed(as I said before, there is always a risk), but since I know people who used Anastasia International, I don’t believe that the entire agency is a big scam.
Anastasia International is a huge agency (if I am not mistaken it is the biggest Russian dating agency on the web) and I think they make enough money without scamming people just by offering their legitimate services. But this is just my opinion.

seriously!! Anastasia is a scam!!! I have ladies that assure me I am the only one the communicate with, and yet they show up on the top one thousand women!!! give your head a shake if you believe this site is for real!! the ladies are paid for thier letters and especially for the live chat with video!!! sorry guys!!!! really this is a waste of money and time!!
You can meet scammers pretty much everywhere. I personally know Russian-American couples who met through Anastasia, so I know it is not all scam. But who knows, maybe it got worse over the last couple of years.
I am currently using anastasia and thus far it seems okay. The guys comment above is just stupid, real stupid. Of course the girls are going to communicate with other guys and keep their options open. They know as little about you, as you know about them so this is to be expected. You need to do something to make yourself stand out just as much as they do.
Now I used the hotrussianbrides.com site for six months and was taken pretty bad. There was a woman using one of the profiles on the site but the girl I was speaking to was not the lady on the profile! In other words the real lady either left, or never existed and someone was using her profile to deceive me. On another occassion I web cam with a girl and there was someone else sitting in her place. I immediately complained and the company deleted the profile. Point is some of the girls are real, some are not. You have large american corporations trying to oversee what is happening on the lower levels at these agencies spread through eastern europe. It is nearly impossible to do so even if they company has the best intentions. They can initially try to verify identification at first but after that anything can happen and appears to happen. That being said I know they are not all scamers. Many of these women are real but the trick is trying to figure out who is, and isn’t.
I also currently use Anastasia Date and am very cautious when communicating with ladies. If I feel that in chatting they are not real I will leave. One wonderful Ukrainian young woman was very real in that she had the same interest in a certain genre that I have and could pull out titles I know like that. But I felt uncomfortable that her english was only beginning. The current young Moldovan woman I am communicating seems pretty real to me. Our personalities and sense of humor click and she normally has her video on when we chat which is not extra (watching recorded videos yes. But that is what you are paying for, communication. They say in their website they are not a marriage hook up company but a communication company hence their advanced free translation service when chatting and emails and paid when on a date.) When I see these young women on camera I can tell when they are giving me their total attention or not. This young moldovan woman when not chatting with me just looks at the camera as if looking right at me and not being distracted.
Anastasia and its various other companies, such as Anastasiadate, etc are a total scam. Many of the girls are paid to write letters, or the company itself writes them. Just post your profile and see how many interested girls will respond immediately with letters for you to pay for even though you dont post a photo.
You may as well just send the owners your money and save your time. Their tours are also a huge scam.
Also, be careful when finding other foriegn women intro sites, as Anastasia has many web site names. You will be able to tell the similar structure of the site.
