The question as to whether or not Russian ladies are hunting Western men has been answered hundreds of times, but many skeptics still wonder: Is she after me only because I have an American/British/French passport? Are Russian ladies going to hunt me down only because I am a foreigner?
You need to relax a bit. No one is going to hunt you down (or at least the majority won’t). Well, let me take it back. If you look like Brad Pitt and are as charming as let’s say, Richard Gere, women might be jumping all over you regardless of your nationality; and not only Russian women.
Decent Russian women have a lot of pride and they are usually more shy/modest than Western women.
If you are traveling to Russia, or Belarus, or Ukraine and a woman starts pursuing and hunting you, there are two possibilities (assuming you don’t look like Gere and are not Gere yourself):
The first one is – she is probably vulgar and uneducated; either really desperate to leave the country, or very materialistic, or both. She might be just after your money, or green card (which is the worst case scenario). American guys who were scammed by Russian ladies (while in Russia), usually say that it was the woman who initiated their romance, and she was very persistent and forward (not a common quality for Russian women).
While you might be flattered by a woman hunting you, be very careful. We don’t want your heart broken and your bank account emptied.
The second possibility is that she is really in love with you and will do everything for you to love her. Love at first sight doesn’t happen often, but it does happen.
How to differentiate between the two? Follow your heart, but be alert. If she is constantly asking to buy her stuff, or to take her out, she is probably not madly in love with you, but is after your money. If her behavior seems suspicious, test her. Tell her you are bankrupt or lost your house. If she loves you, she won’t lose her interest. And, she will most likely forgive you your white lie later.

Thank you so much for your blog. I think I have read every post on it now. I practically swallowed the information. lol
I have been baffled by these beautiful Russian women looking for love. Is it real, a scam, what is it? Now I know a lot more and also about the pitfalls and I think I will look into it.
I am living in Scandinavia and like you, I think feminism have gone too far (generally speaking) in the west. I am an oldfashioned guy that believes that the woman is the weaker sex and need to feel protected and cared for. Here, the women are confused because they want these things deep down and yet they dont want them. They want a strong man but they also want a soft one that they can tell what to do. So the men get confused sometimes. And some just settle into that emasculated role to keep the peace.
I have tried but could not settle into such a role and have had two troubled marriages because of it which both ended with divorce. Ask my friends and family and they will say that I am a very nice guy with a caring and big heart. But I feel that some women here dont really respect their men. Even if their men respect them. I have now come to the conclusion that I will not pursue a woman with this kind of view on gender roles. I would rather stay single. But maybe now there is hope for a nice russian lady that can be a perfect match for me?
Anyway, thank you again for your blog. And I am tempted to order your book as well. Cheers.
Thank you so much for your kind post. Such comments make my day.
I hope you will finally find your happiness with a Russian or Eastern European lady. I just came back from Russia and was once again saddened how many good Russian girls (some of which are my friends) are unmarried simply because they can’t find a decent guy. Not a Prince Charming, but just a decent unmarried guy who is willing to start a family.
I think you will benefit from our book if you decide to order it. Nobody has asked for a refund yet, so it makes me confident you will like it as well.
Whether or not you decide to order it, feel free to ask me anything related to Russian/EE women or culture. I try to cover as much as I can, but sometimes I run out of ideas.
Best of luck to you and stay in touch!
Hi Russian Girl. How are you? I may be a bit late in getting to you for some information on Russian/EE women but I’ll shoot for the stars anyway.
I am currently an English major at a university in the USA. I am graduating soon and heavily interested in joining the Peace Corps. I am undoubtedly desiring to teach in the Eastern Europe/Central Asia region: Albania, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Ukraine, Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan.
I would be involved in the education department teaching English to students and possibly businesses. I desire most to be placed in Romania or Ukraine. Why? I do not know. When I saw the list, those two countries are the intuitive responses I had. I will be there for two years and hoping to meet some women and develop some relationships along the way. I mean not necessarily sex relationships,a relationship from two unknown people who may find the other comforting and desirable or may find the other repulsive.
What am I desiring from the relationships that I may develop?
I am seeking nothing in particular other than to meet new people and take in a new culture and of course educate those who would like to improve/learn English. I am open to what comes my way as I have no predetermined thoughts about what I about to expect other than expect the unexpected. Any advice for me since I will be there for two years where I go if I am accepted? Thank you and I hope this message receives you with great great interest.
Sincerely,
Christopher L. Shannon
Chris,
First of all, good luck! Whether you are able to develop relationships with a woman or women, this trip will be an unforgettable experience for you. You will be able to see the culture from the inside which is always the best way.
It is hard to give a general advice at this point. Hopefully you’ll have internet access when you are over there, so you can send questions as they pop. I am always here to help.
My only advice at the moment is to learn about the culture as much as you can to avoid misunderstandings and unpleasant surprises. If you haven’t already, visit this blog for more info on Russian/Ukrainian culture: http://www.russianwife.straigh.....an-culture
Russian Girl,
Thank you for the wish of luck. As for internet access, I will have to purchase it as I will be given a monthly allowance by the corps. There is no set amount as it is based on the area that I will be stationed in. The corps wants the volunteers to live like as though they are one in the community. I will likely purchase it to speak to friends and family and now possibly you (not in a creepy manner). I will visit the site as have I been looking at similar sites to this although some of the commenters are full of BS and just hard pressed.
Thank you once again for the response and information.
